One of the essential messages of the 220-page report is that Europe’s pluralistic banking landscape is an indispensable asset. Indeed, the diversity in banking models and in banks’ priorities has protected Europe’s economy against the domination of uniform herd behaviour by credit institutions. Pluralism in the banking sector is risk diversification.
